Welcome to my page, it’s great to see you here.
My name is Sarah Doubleday, and I am an accredited mental health social worker and family therapist. With 10 years of experience in mental health services, I support children, teenagers, parents, couples, and adults in both individual counselling and couple/family settings. I am also a guest lecturer for students enrolled in a master's program in family therapy, and I offer private supervision to fellow social workers and family therapists. Outside of work, I am a Mum to my young children and enjoy an active lifestyle.
I hold master's degrees in both Social Work and Family and Systemic Therapy, and I am trained in a broad range of evidence-based approaches that I utilize as needed such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Attachment Based Family Therapy (ABFT).
My approach involves exploring the factors contributing to pain or difficulty while understanding each person's perspective. I strive to make sessions relaxed, focused, and helpful, while also understanding the bigger picture. I tailor treatment to the presenting issues, collaborating with clients to develop practical strategies that alleviate distress, heal ruptures, and enhance life’s meaning. I provide a safe space for those difficult conversations and emotional processing.
My goal is for individuals to turn to their families or supportive people during stressful times and find a way forward together, celebrating the unique strengths and growth of each person and family.
